Around 100 boxes of dry food the Girl Scouts put together (gone) but memories made and I can’t wait to do this at Christmas this was amazing a few people in tears today yes one of the three I know of was me I lost it in Marengo. The other two were two ladies driving down the tree then being blessed with a 20 plus lb turkey, Everyone's thank you for your support we are for sure 100% doing this for Christmas and going to bless even more families.

We will change a few things and try to pick great locations We now know a few do’s and don’ts now but thank you to all that made this day possible. My 8yr old Ryan said it best on the way home “this was the best day ever” donated 9 of the last 10 turkeys to the Elgin crisis center the last turkey was left on a doorstep for a family who has a son in a wheelchair. We were given exactly what we needed even for awhile it didn’t look that way.  READ MORE...

Local Non-Profit Hopes to Feed 450 Families This Holiday Season

MCHENRY COUNTY – When he’s not at his day job, Mike Lyp can be found volunteering his free time, figuring out different ways to provide basic, essential needs to those that are less fortunate. What began as a mission to become more involved locally within the community, quickly grew into an idea that would change the lives of many for the better.

In 2019, Lyp founded Helping Hands and Caring Hearts (HHCH), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that relies on volunteers to get involved wherever the need is for those that do not have the means to obtain meals...

State Rep Sponsors Clothing Drive to Benefit Helping Hands and Caring Hearts

Martha Paschke, the Democratic candidate for state representative, is continuing her efforts to address the needs of all members of the 65th District by co-sponsoring a winter item collection drive with 43rd District state Rep. Anna Moeller.

It will benefit Helping Hands and Caring Hearts, a Hampshire-based organization tasked with providing basic essentials to community members in need. Items most needed include: winter boots, blankets, coats, hats, gloves, gym shoes, jeans, long underwear, mini propane tanks, sleeping bags, socks, sweat pants, sweat shirts, toilet paper, baby wipes, underwear, hand warmers and water.

Local Man Sleeping on the Streets with the Homeless to Raise Awareness

KANE COUNTY - A west suburban man is leaving behind his home, now living with the homeless to raise awareness about the issue.

The Kane County man says he wanted to see what the challenges are on the streets firsthand, especially since the area's cold weather shelter recently closed.

Michael Lyp is living on the streets for the week, simply to see what it's like and what they need. On Thursday night, FOX 32 tagged along for a short time to see the challenges the homeless population faces.

Walking back from soup kitchen dinner, Lyp is part of the crowd. He’s from a neighboring town, has a house, job and family. But this week, he’s living on the street walking in someone else’s shoes...
